Anandpur Outreach Project 2008 was a great success! For those of you who joined us at our fundraising event in Horizons Banqueting Suite, we hope you had a fantastic and enjoyable evening…we certainly did, and were overwhelmed by the response!

The 2008 Project Team

In total so far, we raised a staggering £37,990 + gift aid of £1902. Now back from our trip, we have some amazing moments and memories to share with you. The whole trip went extremely well, and with god’s grace we managed to fulfil all our aims.

We’d like to THANK YOU all for your support and generosity and also to provide you with some facts and figure of where your funds were utilised…

1) A fully equipped dental clinic with 2 chairs. £6000
2) A 52 seater bus to serve the rural area and facilitate the education of many children in the surrounding villages. £21428
3) Distributions of 300 kits containing food and essential items. £4285

We visited 5 villages and screened over 1000 children’s eyes, and 148 spectacles were prescribed and are to be given. Cataract screening was also carried out and many patients were referred back to the hospital for treatment, and transport was provided. Whilst in the villages, kits were also distributed, one per family. The dance camps accompanied the screening sessions and were once again warmly welcomed and helped lift the spirits of many children.

With the area having no previous dental facility, the clinic was very popular, with queues of patients travelling miles to be seen! Over 300 patients were screened/treated whilst we were there. We also had the opportunity to carry out dental screening in a couple of villages, where if treatment was needed, referral to the hospital was made.

Rakhi took dance classes with the Anandpur school and this consisted of 250 children in one session!! Treats were also distributed to the school children in there break time!

As you can see, we eventually managed to exceed our target well beyond our expectations! We will use the money to in fact purchase a larger bus now and help towards the upkeep of the dental clinic. We will be continuing with more projects in the future, so donations are always welcome and will be utilised wisely for very worthwhile causes in Anandpur.
