"This place is amazing! The work that goes on in the hospital is truly inspiring! But it’s sad to see the extent of poverty!"

“Today we went to the poorest village Mohanpura. We screened 135 children. This was the village that touched our hearts the most. The children had flies on their faces, some of which had wounds/sores with flies, one child with a fly in the corner of each eye. It was so heartbreaking to see malnourished children with pot bellies from lack of protein!” 

“Coming home it makes you think twice before wasting anything and also spending money on designer handbags etc! I just sometimes think how much more useful that money would be to families in Anandpur!”

“Today we went to the Gaushala. It’s really cute how they have named every cow and put chandan spots on the paler ones to make them look better. They even have fans to keep the cows cool!” :-)

“We came across a 13 year old girl who has a Rx of -20D who has never had the help of glasses! She was BLIND without glasses and yet her family having no idea of her visual condition, thought she was mentally slow! We gave her glasses and will refer her for laser eye surgery at Chitrakut (sister hospital) when she is old enough (18yrs old).”

“Today we went to the school to distribute bottles of water and biscuits to the children in their break time; it was so good to see them all smile!”

“Waking up in Anandpur this morning was mind blowing! Its natural beauty, its culture and the complete rural way of life and being surrounded by nature was most uplifting! The people here inspire me even more to contribute and give something back to society in whatever way or form I can.”

“Our efforts felt like only a drop in the ocean considering the mass scale of the extreme poverty; however as a dear one told me…an ocean needs every drop!”

“Anandpur was a very emotional experience for me to watch families struggling in their day-to-day duties for example they would have to walk miles upon miles to get water where as for us it would be question of just turning on the tap.”

“What also touched me was the state of the young children there who were suffering from various diseases and yet they seemed happy and content. This really struck me as we take things for granted but these kids are still happy in their own environment.”

“The dancing inspired them to be motivated and kept their minds off their day to day miseries. The dance workshops really left a memorable experience in my heart as I still remember their smiles and joy of happiness. Something that cannot be described in words – you have to be there to be able to see it.”

“Leaving Anandpur was really emotional as we had met so many amazing people and gained so much inspiration from everywhere. We came in hope to contribute what we could but left feeling like we ourselves had gained so much from the whole experience. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces, giving spectacles to people who had never been able to see before & giving basic necessities to people who have nothing was the most satisfying and indescribable feeling ever! I only hope we will continue to be blessed to come here year after year, so that we can continue this journey & be able to make a little difference to some of them”.
